Day 20
September 20
“Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures; And that he was buried, and that he rose again the third day according to the scriptures.”
1 CORINTHIANS 15:3–4 KJV
One of the life-transforming realities, the greatest of them really, if I am being honest, was that God wanted a personal relationship with me. It is mind-boggling! Think about it for a minute: the God of the universe, in all of His splendour, wanted to have a personal relationship with me! 😯
A bit of a backstory: I grew up in a Christian home and was quite familiar with the message of the Gospel. I had become used to hearing it at every service, but did I understand it? Not really. Sometimes, I was just too scared of death or hell, which is quite scary, and I had several occasions when I had “given” my life to Jesus and “taken” it back.
Fast forward to a faithful season in 2009. I had a miraculous experience that brought me to the realization that God loved me and was interested in a relationship with me. Escaping the reality of hell is good, but even better is knowing God as Lord and Father. It felt like I had all the warmth and security I needed. It felt like I was home.
The Gospel is not simply an escape from judgment. Sin separates us from God, but through Jesus Christ, who died for our sins and rose again, the way back to God has been opened. In Christ, we are not only forgiven; we are reconciled to God and received into His family.
Is it His unrelenting love? His abounding goodness? His supreme power? Having all of that in Christ is such a huge flex that I would have been jealous if I were not a believer!
But you know what? You do not have to be, because the same love extended toward me has reached out to you today. You, too, can come home.
Coming home begins with recognizing that you have sinned, turning from your sin, and placing your faith in Jesus Christ, who died and rose again to save you.
To do this, say:
“Lord Jesus, I acknowledge that I am a sinner. I believe that You died for my sins and rose again. I turn from my sins and receive You as my Lord and Saviour. Thank You for receiving me into Your Kingdom. In Jesus’ name, amen.”
Gloryyyyyy! I rejoice with you. Welcome home ❤️
God bless you!
