Day 13
September 13
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
HEBREWS 4:16 NLT
I remember with much fondness the first month of my engagement to my fiancé, now my husband. Everything felt so perfect. He did not seem like someone who could offend me!
Then, a few more weeks in, I began to wonder what he was thinking when he said certain things!
One thing stood out to me. Whenever we were angry with each other, it almost felt like physical pain. I found it hard to concentrate, and at night, I would toss and turn. Needless to say, he felt the same way.
We only found peace when we were bold enough to talk about how we felt and apologize. It always felt good, as good as being relieved of a heavy weight on a hot and dry day!
Only recently did it occur to me how Jesus must feel when the one He loves so much does things that hurt Him. Worse still, some of those things are done to fill a vacuum that only God’s love could ever fill.
However, it does not have to be or remain that way. He longs for you in such an affectionate way and waits to see that love reciprocated.
That is why this verse resonates with me so much:
“So let us come boldly to the throne of our gracious God. There we will receive His mercy, and we will find grace to help us when we need it most.”
Hebrews 4:16 NLT
